Insulin pumps release insulin into your body in a way that mimics nature. There is a steady flow throughout the day and night, called basal insulin, and an extra dose at mealtime, called a bolus, to handle rising blood sugar from the food you eat. You program the pump for both basal and bolus doses.
Checking blood glucose with a meter only provides a one-time reading. A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) has a small sensor inserted under the skin. The sensor sends information to a receiver or smartphone. You can then view your glucose levels over time—and manage your insulin dosing with greater precision.
Riverside Diabetes helps patients practice self-management, and provides nutritional counselling. We want you to understand more about diabetes and medications used to control Blood glucose, help you sustain lifestyle changes, and identify & reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye condition that can cause vision loss and blindness in people with diabetes. Hence, routine eye exams are essential. Your caregiver has the ability to use Artificial intelligence to detect diabetic retinopathy without dilating your eyes. If needed, you will be referred to a Diabetes Retinal specialist.
We offer home-based care and routine monitoring supervised by a Registered Nurse Practitioner. This is essential for monitoring patients after discharge from a hospital, or for those with mobility and transportation issues. A wide range of vitals are monitored remotely, and the data is transmitted electronically to the Physician.
A DEXA scan is a non-invasive test that measures bone mineral density to assess if a person is at risk of osteoporosis or fracture. DEXA stands for dual energy x-ray absorptiometry—two X-ray beams are aimed at the bones to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. Based on the finding, patients receive guidance in selecting treatment that preserves bone health.
Diabetes and Thyroid problems often occur simultaneously. Hence, we offer full services to evaluate various thyroid disorders, such as Hyperthyroidism, Hypothyroidism, Thyroiditis, and Thyroid Nodules. We use Ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy in the office to diagnose Thyroid disorders.
Our office participates in various research programs sponsored by major organizations looking at the safety and effectiveness of new treatments. These treatments seek to improve the outcomes of diabetes, and related cardiovascular, renal, and retinal complications. We encourage our patients to take part in these ongoing studies with full informed consent.
Riverside Diabetes brings together care providers with decades of experience and diverse accomplishments.
